Dr. King Murphy is a licensed clinical psychologist in Alabama, Georgia, and Texas, specializing in culturally- and trauma-sensitive assessments. She provides psychological services to neurodivergent children, adolescents, young adults, and their families, as well as social-emotional training for schools. Her expertise includes diagnosing autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disability, ADHD, anxiety, depression, and other mental health disorders. Additionally, Dr. King Murphy advocates for policies supporting child and adolescent mental health and provides professional development on culturally- and trauma-sensitive care.
She completed her predoctoral psychology internship in Baltimore, MD, at the Veterans Affairs Maryland Health Care System / University of Maryland Consortium, specializing in school mental health and trauma-informed care at the National Center for School Mental Health. After earning her Ph.D. in Medical/Clinical Psychology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), she completed a two-year clinical psychology postdoctoral fellowship in Maternal Child Health Leadership Education for Adolescent Health at UAB with Children’s Hospital of Alabama. In her career, she has worked in various multidisciplinary settings, including hospitals, primary care, inpatient psychiatric units, schools, and juvenile detention.
