At Little Spurs Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics, we provide comprehensive developmental assessments for infants born prematurely to monitor their growth, development, and achievement of important milestones. Because babies born preterm may be at an increased risk for developmental delays, early evaluation allows us to identify concerns as soon as possible and provide guidance tailored to your child’s unique needs.
During your child’s assessment, our primary goal is to evaluate their overall development, including cognitive, motor, language, social-emotional, feeding, and adaptive skills. While every child develops at their own pace, our evaluations help determine whether additional support or monitoring may be beneficial. We take the time to answer your questions, discuss your child’s progress, and provide personalized recommendations for the next steps.
What happens after a Preterm Infant Developmental Assessment?
Following the evaluation, our provider will review the results with you and discuss any developmental concerns or areas that may benefit from additional support. If appropriate, we can refer your child to early intervention services such as occupational therapy (OT), physical therapy (PT), speech-language therapy, feeding therapy, or other specialized community resources. Early intervention can play a vital role in helping children build the skills they need to reach their full potential.
As always, our goal at Little Spurs is to partner with families by providing compassionate, evidence-based care, education, and ongoing support. We are committed to helping your child thrive by identifying developmental needs early and connecting your family with the resources that can make the greatest impact.
